B.Y.O Cloth or Fabric Bags in Shopping

A lot of people shop do their grocery everyday. One thing that you can help save mother earth is to bring your own cloth or fabric bags when you shop! Some malls and stores especially groceries and supermarkets have adopted this even giving small incentives and discounts to shoppers when they shop and bring their own shopping bags.

If you do your shopping once a week and use your own bag, you will be able to do your own share of saving mother earth because by this act alone, you will be saving an estimated 250 to a thousand plastic grocery bags out of our landfills in a matter of five years. Learn to reuse and recycle plastic shopping or grocery bags and you can help save energy that is equal to almost eleven (11) barrels of oil! So next time you shop, bring your own cloth or fabric bags in shopping and help save mother earth and avoid harming ecosystems where these can cause harm to living creatures around landfills where those unused or used plastic bags end up in landfills.

Here are some alternate uses for those grocery and shopping bags that you have collected:

  • Those old bags make great in-car trash bags.
  • You can use them in your smaller waste bins around the house.
  • Re-use them to clean up pet litter.
  • Use them as shoe protectors in the garden.
  • Take them with you for easy disposal of diapers.
  • Use them to protect clothes from dust, moths, and other pests.
  • Fill a few with shredded paper and tie them off for cheap, reusable packing materials.

Take Action on Earth Day 2010

It’s Earth Day 2010 and here are some concrete ways and they are actually very simple ways and very doable which we can contribute in our own little way to help save MOTHER EARTH!

  • Make everyday earth day!
  • I will use energy-saving light bulbs and take shorter showers. Before I through something out I will always ask myself, “what can I do with this? Can I recycle it or can someone use it for something?” Most important I will teach my children to take action.
  • I will take shorter showers and use a water-saving shower head.
  • I will use environmentally friendly cleaning products.
  • I will organize a clean-up in my community and pick up litter whenever I see it.
  • I will walk, ride my bike, and take public transportation instead of driving.
  • I will shop at a farmer’s market and buy local and organic food.
  • I gave up drinking from disposable plastic bottles on Jan 1 this year.
  • I will call a representative in DC and demand they pass comprehensive climate legislation in 2010.
  • I pledge to ride my bike to school everyday!

Mother… Earth… I Now Care

Mother… Earth… I Now Care :)

These are the words that help me start this new blog of mine at the first day of the month of April when the world celebrates on the 22nd ~ EARTH DAY.

I am a MOTHER who strives and tries to be a good one to her dear son as I stay and work at home trying to be a good home maker for der hubby and working at living a healthier lifestyle hopefully soon!

While at the same time trying to be a good person trying to do her own little ways of caring for MOTHER EARTH. Where will we live in the future if we don’t start caring for the earth now?
