The dengue danger scares people especially mothers like me fearing for their family members who may get affected by this disease. One of the preventions we can do is using an insect repellent. Read label instructions carefully and follow them thoroughly. Apply on the palm of the hand. Do not use on eyes or mouth. When it comes to children, it is best that you apply the product yourself since they might just end up applying too much. Ask the pedia about the brand and product that you will use on your child. Reapply according to instructions. It is best to apply repellents on all exposed skin and make sure you don’t miss a spot.

Keep Mosquitoes Out

Mosquitoes are far from being my friends. I become restless when I see mosquitoes especially in the house. I cannot sleep when I know there is a mosquito somewhere flying and hiding away from us. Since my sister had to be hospitalized due to dengue three years ago along with my nephews who luckily were not admitted to the hospital since they recovered fast, I have if I may say become paranoid of mosquitoes. That was the time when DH was not at home since he was in a seminar somewhere for a few days and our DS was still months old then. I was one scared mother at that time. I was constantly on a look out then for any signs of mosquitoes in the house and around us. Until now I won’t be able to rest unless I know that the mosquitoes are dead or gone. Lest I know they are not carriers of any virus but how can I tell. I would constantly pray then that time that we will be spared and no one will be ever afflicted anymore.
So when I would do anything to keep mosquitoes out and away from us. We have an electric mosquito killer in DS room where we sleep and we fan the whole room every single night before going to sleep. I make sure there is no stagnant water around our place. That is where they hatch their eggs. The last thing we want is to let them reproduce and multiply. Here are some ways to prevent mosquitoes from multiplying, prevent them from biting you and to keep them out. (more…)
