Just now, I heard this line “Be kind to your body” and it struck me more as a reminder to be determined in going for a healthier and fitter me this year. My friends and I have been talking of going for healthier options when it comes to food and drinks. I am going to continue and pursue on that apple-carrot juice drink each day. I started it before but stopped for awhile. Now I want to go back to that for body cleansing.

A friend had already started the other day and it is nice to have someone you know who does it too so it gives an encouragement and like a support. I am encouraging another mom to go along with this. I got to encourage my dear husband to be more supportive as well in this project. I need his support and I want him to join me as well and that is more important too. It will be easier for me when I have their support and encouragement.

I want to be kind to my body so that it will give me more healthy years ahead to be with my family in this world. We should after be kind to our body because we all deserve it.

Sunday has been quite relaxing for me and when the little kid took an early sleep last night, it gave me some nice time to enjoy a relaxing Sunday evening with music of my choice. It made me do work faster sometimes when I am listening to music especially those that I love to listen to. But then at late at the evening, I had to tone down the volume since the neighbors might hear and get disturbed in their sleep even if the music I was playing was soothing and relaxing.

I just thought about the Beats headphone with good sound quality that could be useful to have during this time. I could continue to listen to music that I love even late at night without any concern on whether I could be disturbing the neighbors in their sleep. It could be useful too during the day when I want to listen to music as I work without getting the kid distracted. There are times the kid gets distracted when he hears music and would want to change the kind of music I play and want to hear. That is not something I want to happen so a good, quality headphone will be very useful.

I love cheese and my little kid has probably taken it after me that he likes cheese so much especially lately when we make home made spaghetti, he would ask to eat more and more of the cheese even before it is added to the spaghetti to eat.

Then earlier I found a reason to take it easy with the cheese even if I love it so much. I have heard that for some people, cheese like those aged cheese, cheddar, parmesan, and Swiss can trigger headaches due to their high tyramine content. Tyramine is produced in food from the natural breakdown of the amino acid tyrosine. It can cause a hypertensive reaction or cause blood pressure to go up in some patients so they are being advised on a low tyramine diet. I should keep this in mind.

Indeed I have noticed that when I eat cheese more, I tend to experience a headache that would start soon enough after eating cheese. Then this must be the explanation to that. I do suspect before even knowing this that there might be something in cheese which they actually call “cheese effect” that triggers the headache. Cream cheese and cottage cheese seem to have less or none of this tyramine. While aged cheeses such as cheddar, blue, Gorgonzola, camembert, and brie have high content on the said chemical that is found in food.

Indeed there is fun in music! The little kid said something during the weekend that made him realize indeed there is fun in music. We were watching an animated show on TV where the characters were singing and started a rap song. We got carried away and started playing music along with the little kid. He said “I like music! It’s fun!” I might be more convinced to let him enroll in a music class this summer if he keeps up with this interest in music.

Every time he sees that man playing with a dj equipment in a show in musical TV channel, he would call for my attention and say “I like that!” Oh does that mean he wants to be a DJ when he grows up? As a part time job maybe I will go for that as a mother. He has seen DJs too in an entertainment place in an advertisement that is being shown constantly in one of our local TV channels. Time will tell if indeed he develops his passion for music and singing, I am sure he knows now for sure that he could have fun in music.

Now my tummy gave me a little worry tonight. A few minutes before midnight, it gave in. I must have eaten too much of this dessert called flan or caramel custard or creme caramel by others. I cannot really say if that’s the cause of this tummy upset but since that is the only food that I ate which the little boy did not eat. We both ate for dinner the spaghetti hubby cooked for lunch and the Growers garlic nuts which tasted weird like it was old. The only food that the little kid did not eat was the flan. He is okay. I already ate a piece of banana hoping it will help calm my tummy. So far it seems it will be fine and I pray so.

Now I checked the box of the flan, there was no label of when it will expire. The sales guy from Goldilocks though said we must consume it within two days time. Now I checked the bottom of the plastic that contained the flan, the paper tape that is supposed to show when it will expire was partly removed or torn off. I could only see the first two digits in two rows 02 on top and 01 at the bottom. I might just have to call the attention of Goldilocks about the tampered tape at the bottom because I have no basis for info on when it will expire. There should be a paper stuck there just like what I know their cakes have somewhere in the container. I hope it ain’t expired and someone tore off most of the paper tape or whatever it is called. It might have just coincided with my tummy war earlier. I pray my tummy had totally calmed down.

Sunday is family day and whether the husband has work or not, I try to make it a point to go out for a change of environment for me since I am home almost all the time. So we decided to have a quick trip to the mall this afternoon since that is all the time that the husband has for quality family time today. When we got to the mall, the little kid immediately saw the rides near the activity area and started begging for us to allow him to ride the horse. That has been his request actually for the last two times that we were in that mall yet we did not let him until today.

There was a kid behind him that was wearing what looks like mini equestrian boots. Just a cowboy hat would have done justice to the whole cowboy look then. Yes kids these days who roam that mall sometimes have these boots worn that you won’t see often elsewhere. My dear sister was actually asking us before if anyone of us wanted boots because she said she could send us a pair if there is anyone interested. Maybe in the future I will give in and ask for that pair of boots I have seen once before while doing some window shopping online. Yes I will be wearing that for a horse ride in a resort here one day. Who knows right?

Knowing what FOOD is high in fiber has been in my mind last night and so I did some research. Fiber is helpful in controlling your diet since it makes you feel full faster when you eat. I have known before linking taking food rich in fiber to achieving lower blood sugar and cutting down cholesterol levels which is something I might already need.

So here are your food high and rich in fiber: apple, avocado, oatmeal, corn, almonds, whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, lentils, barley, peas, artichoke, broccoli, pear, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, raspberries, white and also black beans.

I also like to eat banana, aside from apple, avocado (oh I grew up eating so much of this), corn, and brown rice which we have just tried for the first time recently. Hopefully I could be able to regularly take in some if not most of this food high in fiber into my daily diet for a healthier me.

I have been trying to divert the little kid from watching too much Disney Channel shows some of which are not good for kids honestly. A few night ago, I asked him if I could watch Discovery Channel and he let me do just that. I am happy he did not object but listened and watched what was being shown on Discovery Channel. They were showing a documentary wherein we saw workers using these quality and cost efficient Hydraulic Power Units that has reduced noise levels and basically being used by most industries to meet the exacting requirements.

The little kid was fascinated by the work being done with all those machines and equipments used that he was seeing on TV. At least this is better than Disney Channel’s shows that are not so kid friendly for being quite violent. I am going for more TV hours watching Discovery Channel for the little kid. Hope to catch more shows for kids. Aside too from watching my fave Lifestyle Network fave cooking shows that he sometimes watch with me.

I love cheese and I can eat so much cheese. We even have this liking for ordering four-cheese pizza almost wherever we go where pizza is being served. A few days ago the boys and I made spaghetti and I originally planned on just using half of the whole cheddar cheese bar. But we ended up using the whole bar and we were not even content feeling in the end, we need to buy more.

You may wonder why cheese is addicting, well this may be the answer. Cheese has casein which is the primary protein that helps the body release this so-called queso-morphine that has an effect on one’s body which makes you crave more for cheese and you seem not to get enough of eating cheese. Yes I seem to agree with this. There is something in eating cheese that makes you want to eat more and more. I even love eating it with softdrinks since I don’t drink wine. Hmmmmm delicious!

There are countless dishes in the world that you have never tasted. Each of those dishes has infinite variation with each person who cooks it and the quality of each ingredient used. Trying everything is impossible but you can make a dent in that list without destroying your bank account.

Look local for new varieties of food. You don’t need to travel to Thailand to get great Thai food or Russia to experience good caviar. Find local shops and restaurants that are run by first generation immigrants and make friends with them. Not only will you have made some new friends but you will be able to ask them about the true essence of their country’s food.

Cook for yourself to save even more money. Going to restaurants all the time is difficult and expensive. If you taste a dish at a restaurant that you really loved then you should try making it at home. You will be able to make more of it for less money and really enjoy the fruits of your own labor.

Make your own ingredients. If you want to have a truly German meal of various sausages, sauerkraut and beer you should think about making these for yourself. Brewing beer and making sausage are two great hobbies that will save you a ridiculous amount of money in short order but they take a good amount of time and skill to get right. Making sauerkraut, on the other hand, is astoundingly cheap and simple. The chances are that you can make the same ingredients for cheaper at home. There are some ingredients that you really just can’t make at home though. You probably don’t have the room to set up a fish farm to harvest your own beluga caviar. That wouldn’t be cost efficient though. Unless you are consuming hundreds of pounds of caviar throughout the year, it will be more efficient to just buy a tin one a year. With just a little math you can figure out how to make amazing food for astoundingly small amounts of money.
