Take It Easy With the Cheese

I love cheese and my little kid has probably taken it after me that he likes cheese so much especially lately when we make home made spaghetti, he would ask to eat more and more of the cheese even before it is added to the spaghetti to eat.

Then earlier I found a reason to take it easy with the cheese even if I love it so much. I have heard that for some people, cheese like those aged cheese, cheddar, parmesan, and Swiss can trigger headaches due to their high tyramine content. Tyramine is produced in food from the natural breakdown of the amino acid tyrosine. It can cause a hypertensive reaction or cause blood pressure to go up in some patients so they are being advised on a low tyramine diet. I should keep this in mind.

Tummy Worry

Now my tummy gave me a little worry tonight. A few minutes before midnight, it gave in. I must have eaten too much of this dessert called flan or caramel custard or creme caramel by others. I cannot really say if that’s the cause of this tummy upset but since that is the only food that I ate which the little boy did not eat. We both ate for dinner the spaghetti hubby cooked for lunch and the Growers garlic nuts which tasted weird like it was old. The only food that the little kid did not eat was the flan. He is okay. I already ate a piece of banana hoping it will help calm my tummy. So far it seems it will be fine and I pray so. (more…)

FOOD High in Fiber

Knowing what FOOD is high in fiber has been in my mind last night and so I did some research. Fiber is helpful in controlling your diet since it makes you feel full faster when you eat. I have known before linking taking food rich in fiber to achieving lower blood sugar and cutting down cholesterol levels which is something I might already need.

So here are your food high and rich in fiber: apple, avocado, oatmeal, corn, almonds, whole wheat  bread, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, lentils, barley, peas, artichoke, broccoli, pear, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, raspberries, white and also black beans.

I also like to eat banana, aside from apple, avocado (oh I grew up eating so much of this), corn, and brown rice which we have just tried for the first time recently. Hopefully I could be able to regularly take in some if not most of this food high in fiber into my daily diet for a healthier me.
